Your first goal in Death Order: Simon Says is not to move fastest. It is to make the correct decision before moving at all. The official rule is exact: follow an order only when Simon says Simon Says first. A missing prefix makes the instruction a trap, even if the action looks familiar or the entire room starts doing it.
First-match routine: read the full prompt, check the first two words, choose the nearest valid target, perform one clean action, then stop. Repeat that sequence for every command instead of carrying momentum from the previous one.
Set up before the round
Open Settings before a serious attempt. The official Roblox description points to Mobile HUD Editor, PC Keybinds, and Controller Binds and says each can be rebound or rebuilt. Put movement, jump, crouch, sprint, interact, camera, and any combat input where you can reach them without covering the command text.
Test movement in a safe lobby moment. Press and release each direction, then check whether your character stops cleanly. Mobile players should leave space around the command area; PC players should remove duplicate binds that cause two actions; controller players should watch for stick drift. The Controls guide has a longer platform checklist.
Do not begin by changing every setting. Adjust one input, test it, and keep it only if it removes a specific mistake. A control layout you understand is safer than a copied “best” layout that hides the prompt or places two important actions under one finger.
Use the four-step command check
- Read from the beginning. Do not react to
JUMP,BED, orTABLEbefore seeing the prefix. - Confirm
SIMON SAYS. If those words are missing, hold your current action unless the live Event clearly establishes another rule. - Complete the exact task. Reach the named location or perform the named action, not something similar nearby.
- Stop and reset. Release unnecessary movement and recenter the camera on the next prompt.
Other prisoners are not instructions. They may have misread the line, be taking a different route, or be selected for an Event that does not apply to you. Use the crowd to notice a doorway, never to decide whether the prefix existed.
Learn the prison without throwing the match
During safe gaps, identify a nearby cell and bed, one route to the cafeteria, a stairway to the upper level, and the basement entrance. Also notice tables, chairs, marked lines, and open floor areas used by location or position commands. You do not need a perfect map; you need one clear route to each common destination.
When Simon names a location, choose the nearest unobstructed path. A dense crowd can make the obvious staircase slower than a second route. Stop inside or on the visible target instead of beside it. Community walkthroughs repeatedly show location prompts and prepared Events using the prison’s levels, so route familiarity saves more time than following whoever moved first.
Do not search for Marlow, Wren, The Free Man, or the secret door while an active command is running. Those badge goals are optional and can be attempted during a safer phase. The current order can remove you before the conversation or lock interaction finishes.
Handle your first prepared Event
A preparation notice tells you the round is changing. Read the Event name, keep the camera clear, and wait for the actual objective. Obby asks you to finish an obstacle course. Duel selects players for a fight. Chamber is a survival objective. Split Second compares two inmates at a timing table.
Do not assume the layout, weapon, timer, or safe spot from an older video. Use the current visual cue. If the Event allows recovery, stabilize first: return to a firm platform in Obby, regain space in a fight, or move away from the hazard the Chamber actually shows. The Events hub links each supported focused guide.
Make the first run useful even if you lose
After elimination, name one cause. A prefix error means you acted without authorization. A route error means you chose a blocked or distant path. A control error means the correct decision produced the wrong input. An Event error means the temporary objective was misunderstood.
Fix the single cause before the next attempt. If you reacted early, deliberately wait until the prefix is visible. If you missed a destination, learn one route while spectating. If jump placement failed, adjust camera or button position. If the Event was unclear, read its guide rather than changing unrelated settings.
This approach turns each short run into progress. Randomly copying advanced players often hides the actual lesson, especially when their route depends on a shortcut or timing you have not practiced.
Beginner mistakes to avoid
Reacting to the last word
The action is bait when the prefix is missing. Read the line from the start before touching movement.
Following the largest group
A crowd can be wrong or block the destination. Use the nearest clear route after your own prefix check.
Continuing after success
Extra movement can overlap the next command. Stop as soon as the named action is complete.
Hunting badges mid-command
NPCs and secrets can wait. Finish the active survival task before leaving the route.
Spending before reading
Cash and Gamepass details can change. Inspect the current item and benefit before confirming a purchase.
Assuming one fixed sequence
Public videos show recorded matches, not a guaranteed Event order for your server.

- Test movement release, jump, crouch, sprint, interact, and camera.
- Learn one route to the cafeteria, basement, upper level, and a nearby cell.
- Use the prefix check before every ordinary command.
- Wait for the actionable cue when an Event is prepared.
- Record one exact reason for every lost life or elimination.
- Try the official

Frequently asked questions
Do I always obey Simon?
No. Obey only when the order starts with “Simon Says.” The official description makes the missing prefix the central trap.
Should I move as soon as I see an action word?
No. Read the prefix first. Fast movement after a correct decision is useful; fast movement before the decision is how the game catches you.
What route should I learn first?
Learn the nearest path to a cell or bed, the cafeteria, an upper stairway, and the basement. Use whichever route is clear in the current round.
